Bert Turetzky studied contrabass at the University of Hartford and musicology at New York University. Turetzky has been a distinguished clinician and pedagogue for over three decades, giving master classes, seminars, and workshops nationally and internationally. His knowledge of repertoire, performance style, and his unique approach to technical, psychological, and physical problems has made him a highly sought-after teacher. His master classes have been referred to as “life-altering.”
Turetzky has been a featured contrabass soloist in the music centers of the United States, Europe, Latin America and Australia. The response to his many concerts, recordings, lectures, writings and his unique sonic vocabulary has taken the contrabass from it’s traditional role to assume the position of a major solo instrument.
Nancy Turetzky is a graduate and former faculty member of Hart College of Music at the University of Hartford. She studied with John Wummer (New York Philharmonic), James Poppoutsakis (Boston Symphony), and renowned oboist Josef Marx.
Nancy has performed Renaissance music for many years with lutenist Joseph Iadone. Her career highlights include working with the Hartford Symphony, the Connecticut Opera, the Connecticut Symphony, and the Marx Baroque Ensemble. She most notably has performed for decades as a duo with Bertram Turetzky, which has included tours and recording sessions throughout the United States, Latin America, and Europe
