Pianist, composer and arranger Irving Flores is a fiery Latin music giant who has been manning the keyboard chair in the Gilbert Castellanos New Latin Jazz Quintet for many years. He will be performing on stage, for this exciting close of the Steinway Series, with Jimmy Branly and Dean Hulett.
Irving Flores, born in Veracruz, Mexico, began his music studies at age 6 and began to learn saxophone and arranging from his father. He continued his studies at the University of Tampico and the National Music Conservatory of Mexico City. During the 1990’s he was chosen to be pianist and musical director by some of the greatest performers in Latin America: Armando Manzanero, Luis Demetrio, Vincente Garrido, Willie Colon, Tania Libertad, Eugenia Leon and Paullina Rubio. He currently is living and working in San Diego.
Jimmy Branly was born in Havana, Cuba and has been playing drums professionally since he was 15. He has performed with the likes of Michael Nesmith, Doc Severinsen and Emilio Estefan.
Dean Hulett has traveled the world playing music; touring with artists such as Delfayo Marsalis, Azar Lawrence, Paul Shaffer and the Late Show Band and many others.
