Facing Our Truth: Ten Minute Plays on Trayvon, Race and Privilege
These ten-minute plays were first commissioned by The New Black Fest in response to the killing of Trayvon Martin and the acquittal George Zimmerman. Since that time, public incidents of violence against black men and women have been increasingly exposed. The plays are as diverse in style and point-of-view as their authors, but each play takes a complex and human approach to understanding the dynamics that lead to fear and fracture our nation. Facing Our Truth’s purpose is to incite serious discussion in our collective communities around issues of racial injustice, systemic violence, and white privilege.
Each performance will include a dynamic format to further the dialogue about racial justice in the U.S.A. See the Coffee Talks tab below for more information.
